Endometriosis is a chronic recurrent disease that has a negative impact on a woman's quality of life and fertility. Although it has been known for decades, there is still no 100% theory of its origin, there is no reliable non-invasive method that can detect this disease. It is confirmed that the quality of a woman's microbiome has an influence on the formation and progression of endometriosis. The aim of this study is to bring a review of available literature sources about the possible influence of microbiome on the formation and progression of endometriosis. The knowledge was gathered via PubMed database according to selected key words.

Key words: endometriosis, gut microbiota, vaginal microbiota
